Wolf Cinema – High Fidelity Film™
Wolf Cinema – delivering state of the art filmic experiences for the discerning few. Wolf Cinema was founded by parent company SUMIKO in January of 2008, and released their first line of reference home cinema projectors nine months later. In subsequent years the company has grown over 1,000 percent and enjoys a strong reputation with dealers, sales partners, magazines and customers around the world. Wolf Cinema successfully split off from SUMIKO in 2011 and is now a wholly-owned, separate organization based in Berkeley, CA.
Wolf Cinema is positioned at the pinnacle of the front projection home video market. Our team delivers advanced solutions that produce the highest fidelity images, coupled with some of the most dedicated service and partner support teams in the industry. Of our two primary missions – performance and reliability – the latter may be the most difficult to achieve but the one most appreciated by our end-users and dealers alike. No matter how fantastic an image may appear, if the projector is not working the result is a challenged dealer service team and an unsatisfied customer. All Wolf Cinema projectors enjoy an enviable reputation for rugged, near-bulletproof reliability due to our extensive engineering, testing and quality control expertise.
Donald Brody has served as the CEO for Wolf Cinema, REL Acoustics and our former parent company Sumiko, helping steer the multi-faceted organization to greater global successes over a 15 year career. In 2011 Sumiko was acquired by Fine Sounds SpA of Milan, Italy (the parent of Sonus Faber, Audio Research Corporation, McIntosh Labs, and Wadia Digital). Brody attended the University of Pennsylvania and later earned a law degree at the University of San Francisco. He and his wife, Toby Mickelson, settled permanently in the East Bay in 1971 where Brody built a successful law practice. A man of many avocations, Brody enjoys boating, flying, photography and rock ‘n’ roll music in his spare time.
After honing his business chops at Denon, John Hunter was hired as the sales manager for the acclaimed audiophile brand Sumiko, where he subsequently become president. Hunter helped grow the company substantially since joining in 1988, creating and selling affordable products with impeccable high-end pedigree. His stated goal, as he told S&V’s Jamie Sorcher, is “to bring the magic that is the high-end to real people.” As part of the Sumiko acquisition both Hunter and partner Donald Brody acquired seats on the board of Fine Sounds– while retaining their day-to-day oversight at both REL and Wolf Cinema. John loves living in the San Francisco Bay Area, is married and has two lovely children.
Jim McGall joined the company in late 2009 and immediately began putting in place the tactics to take the business to the next level. With nearly 30 years of sales, marketing and management experience in audio/video consumer products, Mr. McGall shares a deep passion for our CEDIA channel dealer partners and their valued clients. Among other accomplishments McGall served as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Runco International, where he headed up the Vidikron home theater products division. Mr. McGall is a classically trained musician (University of Tennessee) and while recently divorced, is blessed with five amazing children and (as he puts it, “Gasp!”) five lovely grandchildren.
